SuperThai: Music, Football Debates, and Big Dreams

When I sat down with Thai idol group SuperThai, it quickly became clear that this wasn’t going to be a super formal interview. Between joking about football teams and sharing the real challenges behind idol life, the conversation felt more like hanging out with friends.
The group: Ninja, Tadalee, Plengthai, and Peanut are proudly bringing Thai culture into their music, blending modern pop with traditional elements.
According to Tadalee, that focus on cultural identity is intentional.
“We include traditional Thai instruments in our songs and even Thai movements in our choreography,” he explained. “We want people around the world to experience Thai culture through our music.”
Their debut single “Run The Show” perfectly reflects that ambition.
“Because we are new artists in Thailand, we wanted to show the world who we are,” Ninja said. “We want to run the stage.”
Fans, Football, and Funny Moments

When the conversation shifted to hobbies, things quickly turned into a football debate.
Plengthai shared that he’s a big football fan and revealed he supports Liverpool. That immediately sparked a funny moment when Peanut mentioned that he supports Manchester United I casually said “Oh me too”
This confused the group slightly with me being from London.
“You’re Korean London… why not Chelsea?” Plengthai asked, laughing.
Peanut, however, was fully on my side. For a moment the interview turned into a mini football discussion before we managed to steer it back to music.
Outside of performing, the members enjoy a mix of hobbies. Peanut loves gaming and coffee (and spending time with his cat), Tadalee used to play basketball competitively, and Ninja spends a lot of late nights writing songs and playing guitar.
The Reality Behind Idol Life

While SuperThai brought a lot of fun energy to the stage, the group was also honest about the challenges behind the scenes.
“People think being an idol is easy,” Tadalee said. “But there’s choreography, creating projects, deadlines, and a lot of pressure.”
For some members, the journey has been especially emotional. Ninja shared that before joining the group he spent time busking to help support his family when his father became ill.
The group also sees SuperThai as an important opportunity in their careers.
“This is like our last chance,” Ninja admitted. “So we really want to succeed together.”
A Message for Cubbies

SuperThai’s fandom, known as Cubbies, clearly means a lot to the group.
“We want our music to make people feel better,” Ninja said. “If we can be something good in someone’s bad day, that’s enough for us.”
Tadalee added that music has always been a source of strength in his life.
“Sometimes life feels really dark,” he said. “But music can bring you out of that. I just want to give that feeling back to people.”
Before wrapping up the interview, the group had one final message: “We love you, Cubbies.”
It was such a pleasure meeting SuperThai. Their passion, honesty, and genuine excitement about their music really stood out, and I definitely walked away from the interview as a new fan.
If you haven’t checked them out yet, I’d really encourage you to give them a listen. This group clearly has a lot more to show.
