Joss & Gawin Light Up London:
A Special Night for Thai BL Fans

It’s not every day that Thai BL fans in the UK get the chance to meet their favourite actors in person, so when Joss Way-ar Sangngern and Gawin Caskey announced their London fan meeting, it felt like something really special. And honestly? It didn’t disappoint.

The event kicked off with a short intro film before the two appeared on stage to perform Ever After together, a beautiful duet that set the tone for the whole evening. It was such a sweet way to start, and you could feel how excited everyone was to finally see them in person.

For anyone who might not know them, Joss Way-ar Sangngern and Gawin Caskey are Thai actors best known for starring in the BL series My Golden Blood. The show’s unique mix of fantasy, action and romance quickly made it a fan favourite and helped them build a strong following both in Thailand and internationally.

It was Joss’s first time in London, and he mentioned how much he loved the city. At one point, he even tried out a British accent, which made everyone laugh. Gawin shared that he’s actually been to the UK before twice, to see Sam Fender (The Brit Award–winning indie rock singer known for hits like Seventeen Going Under), he called himself his “biggest fan” He also admitted he sometimes finds the British accent hard to understand, but said he loves how posh it sounds.

There were lots of fun, light-hearted moments throughout. Joss said he’d love to come back one day with his dad to watch a football match, while Gawin revealed he supports Manchester United, which got a big cheer from the crowd especially from some excited fans that had travelled all the way from Manchester to see them.

They also mentioned they’ve just finished filming the highly anticipated Only Friends spin off ‘Only Friends: Dream On’ with Earth, Mix, Leng and Ohm. Which fans were very excited for. Joss recommended fans to read the novel if they're curious about the story before release, the audience reminded them it’s only available in Thai  which turned into a funny, wholesome moment between the pair and their fans. There were many moments like that throughout the show which made it even more enjoyable.

One of the sweetest parts of the night was when they gave away a special hand-drawn gift to two random fans, which was such a thoughtful touch.

The music performances were a real highlight. Joss sang his first single Lonely, which was my first time hearing it, and I really liked the vibe. It gave me a similar feeling to something by one of my favourite Thai artists, Timethai. Gawin then performed Counting Stars while playing his guitar, and it was such a sweet, intimate moment. His voice really suits that acoustic style, and it made the crowd go quiet just to take it in.

I wasn’t totally sure what to expect going into my first BL fan meeting, but it honestly turned out to be such a fun and heartwarming experience. Thai dramas and BL series have made such a huge impact globally, but for fans in the UK, the actors can often feel so far away. Seeing Joss and Gawin right here in London made everything feel a bit more real and it reminded me just how strong and passionate the BL community here really is.

Hopefully this won’t be the last time we see Thai BL stars in the UK, because if this event proves anything, it’s that the love for them here is definitely real.
